Introducing our latest build, a stunning 1990 Mercedes-Benz 250GD Wolf finished in Reaper Black Metallic over a refined Port interior. Highlighting this build is the exceptional Mercedes OM605a turbodiesel engine, paired seamlessly with a refined 5-speed automatic transmission, creating the perfect balance between heritage and modern performance.
Each EMC Wolf begins its life with a comprehensive restoration. The vehicle is fully disassembled, stripped down to bare metal, and brought back to life by our in-house craftsmen. Every component, from bodywork to drivetrain is either restored, replaced, or upgraded. The final product is a custom G Wagon that offers a harmonious blend of originality and modern usability.
This 1990 250GD convertible underwent exactly this meticulous process. Finished in Reaper Black Metallic, complemented by the luxurious, weatherproof Port-colored interior, it’s equally suited for coastal drives or showcase in your collection. As with all EMC G-Wagens, this build is equipped with upgraded brakes, proprietary suspension, as well as our redesigned interior to enhance the experience without overshadowing the original character.
At the heart of this build lies the renowned Mercedes OM605a turbodiesel, a powerful, period-correct Mercedes-Benz engine. The OM605 engine series was introduced in the mid-1990s as part of Mercedes’ famous OM engine lineup, which included the legendary OM602 “million-mile” engine originally fitted to the 250GD Wolf. By offering the OM605a as an option, our clients are able to enjoy increased power, refinement, and modern drivability while preserving the Wolf's authentic lineage.
The OM605a is a robust, turbocharged 2.5-liter, 5-cylinder diesel engine. Ours reliably generate approximately 200 horsepower and about 300 lb-ft of torque, ensuring smooth and responsive power delivery across the entire RPM range. The OM605 turbodiesel allows the Wolf to comfortably maintain highway speeds of 75–80 mph, an improvement over the original OM602 powerplant, making it great for those who want the additional capability.
Originally, the Mercedes OM605 engine was not available in the United States; it was offered across various European countries. Popular models that featured the OM605 turbodiesel include:
Mercedes-Benz W202 C-Class (C250 Turbodiesel, European markets)
Mercedes-Benz W210 E-Class (E250 Turbodiesel, European markets)
Because of its proven performance and reliability, the OM605 engine has developed a strong following among diesel enthusiasts globally.

The OM605a turbodiesel, just like other engines from the "OM" series such as the OM606, is celebrated for its robust construction and remarkable reliability. Featuring a durable cast-iron block and cylinder head designed for longevity, the OM605 is exceptionally resistant to extreme conditions, making it a trusted choice worldwide. Its performance credentials are validated by its extensive use in numerous applications such as road course racing, drifting, class Mercedes restoration, and performance street cars.
Our decision to include the OM605a turbodiesel as an optional upgrade for EMC G Class Gelandewagen builds was guided by a deep commitment to preserving authenticity. Given its direct relation to the Wolf’s original OM602 diesel engine, the OM605a provides a performance boost without diluting the vehicle’s period-correct character. Whether paired with a modern 5-speed automatic transmission or a classic manual transmission G-Wagen setup, the OM605 ensures a refined yet thoroughly authentic driving experience.
Drivers seeking a unique blend of vintage character and upgraded powertrain technology will find the OM605a-equipped Wolf both engaging and satisfying. It’s the perfect choice for those looking for a genuine classic Mercedes convertible experience, one suited equally for everyday driving and weekend exploration.
